Nortel to cut 2,900 jobs and send hundreds to Chindia and Mexico

This isn't the first time that Nortel has had a layoff like this. At least this one is scheduled over a two-year period. In September of 2000, I was offer a job with Nortel (NT) in Atlanta for $74,000 plus pention and all the perks (working from home, etc.).

EMC to offer 10% of VMWare in IPO

Microsoft Windows Vista Speech Recognition has Flaw

It is the first potential flaw since the public launch earlier this week. Even under the right conditions, the expected impact of the flaw is small. Vista's User Account Control feature would not allow this to happen anyway.
